“My journey started a year ago. My kids were two years old and 14 months. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and thinking this is it, I don’t recognize the person I’m becoming. After two kids my body change dramatically. I have stretch marks galore and what I like to call my kangaroo pouch. I started working out at 5am at a local boot camp. It was the easiest time to sneak out before the kids woke up and my husband left for work. After almost a month I heard about another local boot camp (from this very same fitness page.) I decided to drag my husband with me to check it out…the rest is history. Gym Rats is unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of. We really are a family. We come to class and work out as as team. The trainers are great about making everyone feel welcomed. They are professional, motivating and make working out fun! At Gym Rats they take their time and fully explain the workout and correct form. You are not just a number to them; they truly care about their clients and are passionate about what they are doing!
Within a year I’ve lost over 30 lbs. and have dropped 9% in body fat. I’ve been stressed, I’ve been tired, and I’ve been injured, BUT I didn’t give up! It’s wasn’t until 11 weeks ago I started getting a full night of sleep! (Thank you Lord!) In this past year I’ve ran my first 5K, 10K and completed my first Tough Mudder. This is huge because I use to hate running. I’ve started this journey with one goal in mind, to feel comfortable in my own skin. My weight nor my body fat percent defines me as a woman, a wife, a mother or a friend. I’m still learning so much about myself and my body. Fitness is 100% mental for me. I can psych myself out before I even try but I will not give up, I’ve come to far!”
